The Eighth and Final Square

with courage face the thing you fear so the pawn becomes the queen

Oh jeez. My dad. Dennis, as I will call him henceforth, because he is not a father figure to me and he was never the father figure that I hoped, wanted, or needed. Last night I had a crazy dream about him. I dreamt that I was back at their house, and he was violently abusive towards me…hitting me with my tablet (which broke the detachable keyboard), saying horribly mean things, and breaking my laptop. In my dream, I had […]

Author’s Note 04-26-12: I still agree with most of the things I wrote here, but I consider myself an agnostic, out of choice, not reaction. I read this post this morning and originally I was going to just post the link to Facebook and add my thoughts, but then I thought I would write a blog post. Besides that, I wanted to make sure people read her post. “I Used To Be You” by Libby Anne When I first started […]

I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that phrase. Several times it’s been applied to me. Sometimes it’s cautionary: “Don’t get into a victim mentality”, and sometimes “stop playing the victim”, and so on. Hey guess what: I GET IT. So STFU already. I DON’T want to get into a victim mentality. (BTW, warning me not to is not helpful.) I worry constantly about if I’m complaining too much or whatever.  The helpful people tell me I’m not complaining […]
