The Eighth and Final Square

with courage face the thing you fear so the pawn becomes the queen

Archive for February, 2011

Yesterday Mom picked me up and brought me to their house so I could babysit the three littlest ones while she went shopping. We had a lot of fun, and watched Finding Nemo (my first time). TK, the youngest girl (9), said this one face I made was “persuasive” and would make her do anything, and it was like I was “shooting curses” at her. (No idea how she got the “shooting curses” because it wasn’t a mean face!) LOL! […]

I found another photo-a-week challenge, this one updating on Thursdays (instead of Friday…big diff! lol). This week’s is movement. This is my cousin, trying to run away from getting his picture taken, actually. I didn’t know this photo would turn out so well; I was just teasing him by taking pics of him!

So today is our six-month wedding anniversary. 😀 It’s hard to believe it’s been six months already. I know after a year I’ll be saying the same thing…and two years…but yeah…it seems like it was all just yesterday, but at the same time, not. lol Six months ago, we were trying to figure out who to call to be our witnesses at our wedding, which was secret at the time*. After getting married, I was late for work…but it was […]

This week’s photo challenge: Refuge. The first thing that came to mind is represented in the last picture.   He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty…..and under his wings you will find refuge. Psalm 91 Refuge in the love of God (in the shadow of his wings).   I take refuge in my husband’s arms. ♥

And I never want to let you down Forgive me if I slip away Sometimes it’s hard to find the ground Cause I keep on falling as I try to get away From this crazy world   Sometimes I feel as though my family died. And Joe and I are the only ones left. Sometimes it’s easier to believe they’re dead, than to try to grasp the reality. They think I’m heartless and callous. That I’ll forget them and move […]

The Daily Post prompt today is: What would you do with a million dollars, tax free? Let’s see! First off, I would pay off all of our debt. (yay!) Then I’d buy a house somewhere, and move us there. (A BIG house so ppl can come live/stay with us!) After that, I’d get Scottie’s car all fixed up nice. I would get Scottie an iPod Touch too. And a new computer. And a laptop for me… And some new clothes […]

One of the challenges on WordPress’ Daily Post (I’m a few days late; so what?) was: If you could go back in time and have a 5 minute conversation with yourself ten years ago, what would you say? I’ve gotta say, this is a pretty difficult one. I could say “my younger self wouldn’t listen to someone who said they were my older self from the future” but that would kind of defeat the purpose of the question, wouldn’t it. […]

I didn’t post about it yesterday but I figured I couldn’t get away with NOT posting today! Besides, I have a terrible memory and I want to remember forever! So the other day, Scottie gave me some presents early: A giant cloth rose, one of those ones with bendy stems, Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and a red velvet box of chocolates. 😀 He says there’s something else he’s getting for me, but it will be a little bit before […]
